Fact 1: COLOSTROGENESIS CEASES AT BIRTH
With cattle there is only one udderful of
colostrum, due to a hormone flux at the time of
birthing that shuts off colostrogenesis. From that time
forward, colostrum begins a transition to normal milk
(Fundamentals of Dairy Chemistry). The levels of the
beneficial components of colostrum immediately begin to
decline post parturition. For example, after six hours
post calving, 6.3% of the total solids in the colostrum
is albumin (mostly immunoglobulin), but after twelve
hours only 3% is albumin.
Fact 2: ONLY THE FIRST MILKING IS TRUE COLOSTRUM
The first milking harvests eighty percent of
the colostrum. As time passes after the first
milking, the small amount of colostrum remaining in the
udder awaiting extraction by subsequent milkings
transitions to normal milk. With other than first six
hour colostrum, products sold as "colostrum"
may contain more dried milk than colostrum. Current
regulations do not prevent a company from advertising up
to five milkings as "colostrum", when the
fifth milking is less than 1% true
colostrum.
Fact 3: SYNERGISM IS LOST AFTER SIX HOURS
Not only do the levels of the beneficial components
of colostrum in the udder decline over time, but the
proportions of the components also change. This is
critical because the components of colostrum work
together, in accord with nature's perfect design. The
various components working together accomplish more than
the sum of the components working independently, a
biological phenomenon known as synergism. To achieve
maximum synergism the components of colostrum must be
present in the proportions existing near the time of
calving.
Because of the above reasons it takes less first
milking, first six hour colostrum to achieve results,
and better results, than with other colostrum. Synertek
lozenges contain 200 mg of pure first milking, first six
hour colostrum - true colostrum - and it requires
only two or three of them daily to maximize benefits.
